notes from the weekend.

I sat in the garden in the morning sun with some knitting and a book,

and I cooked a roast dinner and baked some yummy pumpkin muffins.

These things are seriously good I enjoyed one this morning for breakfast, along with a mug of apple cinnamon tea. Oh how I love autumn.

The only thing I changed from the recipe was reduce the sugar slightly (I used 1/2 a cup rather than 3/4), but the next time I make them I think they’d be lovely with a handful of chopped nuts or some chocolate chips. It’s a testament to how yummy they are that 21 muffins came out of the oven yesterday afternoon, and only 14 remain today….

Back to the socks, I really can’t decide how I feel about them. I cast them on wanting something plain, and although I like the subtle variegation part of me feels like it’s missing a bit of texture. I’m half tempted to rip back to the cuff and start again with Hermione’s Everyday Socks, but I’m almost at the heel and I’d hate for all of my weekend to have to go to waste!

I love your sock colors! It actually made me want to knit socks and I don't like to knit socks!

Thank you! I find sock knitting to be something that grew on me. I didn't see the point for the longest time, but once I started I was hooked!
You are lucky you still had 14 muffins left! I made a caramel/chocolate cake last night, and now it's all gone. It seems the boys thought it was delicious. Especially the icing, which reminded one of fudge! Those socks are very pretty. I know what you mean about lack of texture - but you always knit such pretty socks and I'm sure you'll like them anyway.

Oh wow, I'm not surprised a caramel chocolate cake didn't last, it sounds absolutely delicious! I love fudge so fudgey icing sounds like heaven :)

Thanks about the socks! I've forged ahead. My hate for frogging outweighs any wishes I might have for more texture :) After all, I can always add a bit of texture to the next vanilla sock!
You are totally making the most of fall- those muffins look amazing! I liek the sock, but I can understand how a simple stockinette sock can get a bit boring to knit. And if you are bored by the first sock, the second will be even harder.

I love autumn, I'm glad I have time to make the most of it this year. Sometimes it just flies by!

I do love knitting plain stocking stitch socks, I do a lot of knitting while I read or at the cinema so luckily they don't tend to bore me much! If I do get bored I usually have another sock on the go that requires more concentration :) It was more the fact that I feel like it looks a little plain, but I'm too lazy to frog so I'll save the texture for the next sock!
I hope you didn't frog these socks (I'm just now catching up on blogs I've been behind on for ages!) - I *love* them exactly as they are, so so so much! The colors are just perfect!
