Lazy Weekend

I’ve had a lovely lazy weekend.

It’s mostly been spent reading a book I borrowed from a friend (if you found me, hello Ro!!),

Painting my nails bright, summery colours,

(peachy nails, pinky toes)

and of course, knitting my squishbel.

Hope you guys had a lovely weekend too!

Kind of! I'm using silk hankies which I've stretched out into roving, and I'm knitting straight from the roving without spinning. It's quite fun, but I definitely want to try spinning this stuff too!

It is good! Not exactly light or comfortable reading, but it's beautifully written.

I read all of Doris Lessing's books that I could find when I was in college. She's such a good writer. BTW, I'll never be able to look at another Ishbel again without the name "Squishbel" running through my mind. : )

This is the first book of hers I've read. I just finished it this morning, and although I don't think I could describe it as an enjoyable read (the subject matter makes it a tad distressing) it is certainly very engrossing and well written. The friend who lent me The Grass is Singing wasn't too keen on Memoirs of a Survivor, but what I've read of it makes me want to read that next.
