lazy days

I’m having a super lazy Saturday. I spent some time catching up on some Playful Day podcasts whilst I painted my nails, and I LOVE how my nails turned out! They’re gold scribbles on a baby blue base.

I have a heel for my mystery sock.

And I’m thinking of casting on for another mystery sock, despite being so woefully behind in the other one, in some of my hand dyed yarn. This skein is a complete experiment. I was dyeing a semi solid grey when I accidently tipped a whole pot of grey dye stock all over the yarn. Luckily the darker section doesn’t look too bad, I dunked it in water immediately so it’s blended out somewhat.

I did then decide to dot some orange dye around to see what it would look like, but I’m not entirely convinced that it’s going to knit up too well! I’ve a feeling this would have looked better with yellow instead of orange, but I won’t know until I try. The pattern I have in mind for this has quite a few cables and travelling stitches, but now I’m in two minds about whether to knit this up as plain vanilla sock instead. I probably shouldn’t because I’ve already got a vanilla sock on the go, but I’m just so indecisive!

And just because I love my nails so much right now, and I really like the way the gold looks in the sunlight!

Hope you’re all having a great weekend!

Pretty nails!! You're so clever with the nail polish (she says enviously). It looks like you have turquoise nails. Your sock yarn looks nice! There's nothing wrong with another pair of vanilla socks if you feel like it...

Oh, it's nothing very clever! It's just a konad nail stamping set. It's one of things that makes the end result look far more complicated than it really is!

I really enjoy knitting vanilla socks, but there are so many sock patterns that I want to knit that I feel as though I should knit something a little more challenging! You're right though, there's definitely nothing wrong with another pair of vanillas :)
I don't know what I like more, your nails or the yarn! Both are just gorgeous---although I know what you mean about not knowing if the orange-dots (which, I have to state, I adore as they look in the skein) are going to knit up well. I hope they do. :)

Thanks, I really hope so too! I suppose it wouldn't be too much of a disaster if it ends up looking horrible, I can always just overdye! Half of the fun's in the experimenting :)
Your nails are so coool...how did you do the gold? I love that yarn, I am a huge orange fan so I would knit anything with it :-)

It's a nail stamping thing called konad! You basically get these little metal plates with different designs engraved into them, paint polish over the design you want, scrape off the excess and use a special stamper to stamp the design onto your nails! It's so much fun :)
